As per a report by The Verge, the Tech giant is working on new Apple Watch models that could feature an improved screen and updated ultra-wideband support. However, Bloomberg reports that more substantial updates like temperature and glucose monitoring will appear in the later models.

Reportedly, Apple is planning a successor to the last year’s more affordable smartwatch SE, as well as a new extreme sports-focused model, due for release in 2022. It can be said that the improvements which are coming to this year’s model which will certainly be called series 7 appear to be small. Its display bezels are reported to be thinner, furthermore, a new lamination technique could minimise the distance between the display and the front cover. The watch’s ultra-wideband support could also be an improvisation after getting its debut in Apple Watch series 6.

Nevertheless, the most substantial upgradation for the Apple Watch in the future versions is a new blood glucose monitoring feature, which could automatically log blood-sugar levels for diabetics without them needing to prick a finger to draw blood. Bloomberg reports that a new body temperature monitoring feature could appear in the watch in 2022 while blood glucose monitoring system is several years away.

Reportedly, for extreme sports users, the Tech giant has been internally discussing to release a rugged smartwatch. Bloomberg has cautioned that the plan of releasing the rugged smartwatch in 2022 is subjected to change. It is to be noted that this rugged smartwatch is being referred to internally as ‘explorer’ or ‘adventure’ edition.
