Indian BSF, Bangladesh BGB discuss border issues

Border issues including trans-border crimes, smuggling of contraband articles and cattle, Indian Insurgent Groups activities from Bangladesh side, FICN etc, the construction of Single Row Fence (SRF) in the State of Tripura & other pending developmental works were discussed Inspectors General BSF – Region Commanders BGB level Border Co-ordination Conference

The Conference started on Monday through Video Tele Conferencing (VTC), keeping at bay the risk of COVID-19 pandemic situation prevailing in both the countries.

The conference is scheduled from 07th – 10th June 2021. The Bangladesh delegation is headed by Tanveer Gani Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Region Commander, South-East Region, Chattogram. The Indian delegation is headed by Susanta Kumar Nath, Inspector General, BSF Tripura Frontier accompanied with Hardeep Singh, Inspector General, BSF Meghalaya Frontier.

BSF stated that during the deliberations in the conference held today (7th June 2021), various border issues of bilateral interests were discussed at length including trans-border crimes, smuggling of contraband articles and cattle, Indian Insurgent Groups activities from Bangladesh side, FICN etc. Besides, the construction of Single Row Fence (SRF) in the State of Tripura & other pending developmental works were also discussed at length during the conference. After discussion in a free and open atmosphere, both the leaders of the delegation agreed to amicably resolve all the bilateral issues to achieve the common goal of establishing peace and tranquility along the International Border.

Last such Border Co-ordination Conference was held in BSF Tripura Frontier, Agartala in November 2020.
