Citizen services in Covid times: Karnataka to kick off Sakala awareness pilot on use of online channels

The State Government is taking up a campaign to create awareness about Sakala, the law that guarantees delivery of citizen services within a stipulated time, in a bid to encourage people to make use of online channels to get services they need.

The Sakala Mission, the government entity overseeing implementation of the Sakala Act, has launched a pilot programme on Tesz.in, a free to use platform for government departments backed by the Kerala Startup Mission. Citizens can pose their Sakala-related queries on the platform and the department concerned will provide the reply.

“During the Covid-19, with people’s movement being restricted, Sakala becomes all the more important for citizens to make full use of,” Education & Sakala minister S Suresh Kumar said.

The online platform will give all information related to Sakala, including service procedures, workflows and services notified under the law. We are doing a pilot with Tesz from June 15, and take further steps after seeing the response,” he added.

Sakala Mission and all the departments that are under Sakala have drafted a nodal officer each to answer queries from citizens. Citizens can either post their queries on the platform or read responses already posted in the FAQ section, Sakala’s Additional Mission Director BR Mamatha said.

“We will ensure all responses get speedy responses and no query goes unanswered. Since the platform is open to all, people may find ready information for some questions already raised by others. This knowledge pool will make it easier for people to understand and use Sakala in a big way.” Queries, she said, can be raised at: https://www.tesz.in/profile/sakala.
