Manipur minister L Dikho to receive ‘National Corona Warrior Award’

Imphal: Manipur PHE minister L Dikho has been selected for the ‘National Corona Warrior Awards’ in the field of social work in recognition for his contribution towards the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister is among 65 people from the state who have been selected for the national and international awards to be held during the inaugural function of the 35th Rashtriya Samarpan Vijay Diwas in New Delhi on July 12, as per a statement issued by the Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur.

Dikho has been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 since the initial outbreak in the state last year. In March 2020, the minister donated the first TrueNat machine and medical items to Senapati district hospital in a bid to tackle the the pandemic.

Later, the two-time MLA from Mao assembly constituency also stepped in to procure TrueNat machines for all the hill districts of the state at a time when the demand for the machine was at its peak and the state was in dire need last year.

“I don’t claim to be the best person, neither am I the only people’s representative working in the fight against the pandemic. But among all other fighters, in big and small ways, recognising my little contribution and acknowledging me has humbled me and greatly boosted me morally,” Dikho told EastMojo on Friday.
