Assam cabinet decides to increase mobile tower coverage

Assam cabinet has decided to increase the coverage of mobile towers to provide mobile excess to the students for online education.

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to entrust the Information Technology Department to set up mobile towers wherever required for easy internet access in all corners of the state for the benefit of online education.

The cabinet has also decided personnel, from the rank of Sub-inspector to Constable, in all the arms battalions of Assam Police will be given one-month compulsory leave every year for visiting their homes. Those personnel staying with their families in quarters will be given 10 days leave every year.

The commission of Fair Price Shops and cooperative societies for transportation of commodities will be increased from Rs 100.10 per quintal to Rs 143 per quintal.

860 cooperative societies in the state will receive a fixed amount of Rs 5 lakh per year for using godowns and other services and Transportation contracts for carrying commodities from FCI godown etc will preferably be given to cooperatives.

The cabinet also decided MLA Padma Hazarika will be given Cabinet Rank for effectively carrying out the responsibilities given to the committee headed by him like utilizing 77,000 bigha lands in Gorukhuti, Sipajhar for agricultural purposes etc.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the functioning of the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department and Directorate of Employment & Craftsman Training .A detailed presentation of the activities of the department was also made in the meeting.

For smoothening and simplifying the process of online registration of unemployed youths, the Chief Minister directed the department to launch an online portal for facilitating free of cost registration linking their Aadhaar numbers. He also directed to include the option to delete one’s name in the portal by the registered job seekers after finding employment. Similarly, there must be provision of auto deletion of names if the registered candidates do not renew their registration within stipulated time, he added.

He also directed to make the six under construction ITIs in the state functional at the earliest while taking steps for creating required new posts there. He also issued instructions to appoint a Vice Chancellor at the Assam Skill University soon to expedite activities of the university.
