With 2 O2 plants, Jind readies for third wave | Chandigarh News

Jind: This Haryana district’s preparations for Covid-19’s third wave begin with readying two plants of medical oxygen. In the second wave, Jind had to meet its 4-metric-tonne daily requirement from Hisar and Panipat, yet there were deaths because of shortage.
The plant that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the defence ministry helped build at the Jind civil hospital can generate 1 MT oxygen a day with 93% accuracy, fit for medical use. The plant in the Narwana block has come with the efforts of a private entrepreneur in Jind. The district administration gave him motivation and support for the start-up.
This plant’s 1 MT daily production capacity can be expanded to 2 MT. The initial accuracy was 97%. Local manufacturing of oxygen will also help the local industry, Neelima, deputy director in the department of industries and commerce, said on Jind, adding: “We’ll ready another plant in a month by easing all the norms. The district won’t have to import oxygen in case of a third wave.”
