We gals tend to have the gift of gab. Our brains allow us to have amazing verbal skills and our girlfriends usually give us plenty of opportunities to develop those skills.
That said, do keep an eye on how much you talk in conversation with your husband. Take a breath. Ask him what he thinks (and listen). Consider sharing the bottom line and fill in the details as he asks for them.
I’m not asking you to dumb yourself down in terms of content. Do share what you think, what you want, and what you need. Just know that how you deliver your thoughts can impact how well you are heard. Especially with guys, too many words can drown out their ability to hear and process information. If your guy starts looking all glassy-eyed, go for the bottom line and make it brief.
Talking more than is necessary is a barrier to effective communication and effective listening.
